Our system uses computer vision-enabled cameras installed in campus dining halls to estimate real-time wait times by analyzing crowd density. These estimates are displayed on our publicly accessible website for your convenience.

2. Compliance with California Indoor Camera Laws

 

The use of cameras in indoor areas complies with all applicable California state laws and privacy regulations, including California Civil Code Section 1708.8 and other relevant provisions. Cameras are installed in public or semi-public areas where there is no reasonable expectation of privacy, such as dining hall queues. No audio recording is performed, and no footage is retained.

3. Privacy and Data Use

• No Image or Video Storage: The system processes video feeds in real-time without storing images, video, or any personally identifiable information.

• Anonymized Analytics: Only numerical and timestamped data (e.g., estimated line length and wait times) are retained for analytics and performance optimization.

• No Facial Recognition: The system does not use facial recognition or attempt to identify or track individuals.

4. Use of the Website

 

You may use the website for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:

• Disrupt or interfere with the functionality of the Service;

• Reverse-engineer, tamper with, or misuse any aspect of the system;

• Scrape, copy, or reproduce data from the site without prior written consent.
